on bright lights, bleak city (special report-101205)
it doesnt matter that the vibrant streets of these metropolises are home to legions of homeless. steep living standards, wanton discrimination etc, they dont frazzle me too.
scents and smells and light perfumes,
of sounds, reverberations, noise
in terms of dimness, shadow, light
enclosure and exposure
openness and containment
intimacy and spaciousness
density and looseness
looking out, being inside
a charged composition of
materials ordered in rooms
oak, brass, wax
a sequence of atmospheres of
colors, shines and hues
thresholds
seams and joints from
one material piece to another
tactile qualities.
because it's so dynamic and i want to be dazzled too so like them, i'll go with lofty ambitions and optimistic dreams. even if the whole experience harrows down to living on the streets, at least it'll be humbling to know 'when in rome, i did as the romans did.
